Coach Sieben will begin his 9th season at The Rock in 2023.  A graduate of Manhattan High School, Shane Sieben was a member of the 1998 state championship team at MHS before attending Cloud County Community College to continue his playing career. After graduating from Cloud, Coach Sieben returned to Manhattan in 2001 attending Kansas State University and serving as a student assistant on Mike Clark’s Kansas State University baseball team.  Sieben has coached at the high school level as an assistant at Manhattan High School under Don Hess, Rock Creek High School under Scott Harshbarger, and Junction City High School under Dave Martinez.  

In seven years as the head coach of the Mustangs, Coach Sieben has lead The Rock to a 157-28 record, which includes a 21-2 record in the 2023 season, and been named the ABCA/ATEC Division III National Coach of the Year Award in 2021, the KABC Coach of the Year Award for 4A DII in 2015 and 2017 and in 3A in 2021.  In 2015 the Mustangs won the school's first state championship as they defeated Concordia 2-0 and were crowned the 4A DII State Champions with a school record 22 wins and only 2 losses.  In 2017 the Mustangs completed the schools first undefeated regular season before finishing 3rd at state with a final record of 21-1.  In 2019 the Mustangs won their 6th straight Regional Championship defeating Riley County 9-5 and went on to take 2nd place in the 3A State Tournament. In 2021 the Mustangs captured their 2nd state title under Sieben as they defeated Anderson County 19-0 for the 3A State Championship.  In Sieben's seven years at the helm, the Mustangs have won two state titles, three Mid East League Titles, and six Regional Championships.  

 Along with his KSU and high school experiences, Coach Sieben has also served as an assistant coach and later head coach with the Junction City Generals and Junction City Brigade (summer collegiate baseball) leading the Junction City Brigade to the 2014 Mid Plains League Championship.   In 2006 and 2007 Sieben traveled internationally serving as an assistant on USAAI baseball teams traveling to Italy and Curacao.

Coach Sieben is in his 20th year as an educator as he currently teaches World History at Rock Creek where he also serves as the Mustangs head coach in football.  His wife Tori is a Special Education teacher at Rock Creek High School and the couple have a 15 year old son named Cooper.
